Record Offices I have experience of all the major London record offices, the General Register Office, Belfast, and the National Archives in Dublin. In many circumstances, it has been necessary to consult parish records so I have also visited local county record offices throughout the country. The following are the two key London repositories which I use most frequently:
Please note, the Caird Library at the National Maritime Museum is closing on 21 April 2011 and no enquiries can be accepted for collections held there after 6 April. A new archive facility will be open from 14 July 2011 with initial restricted opening hours. If you require research on items held by the NMM, please email me for further information or see www.nmm.ac.uk.
To visit this site please click here http://www.tna.gov.uk This building houses an incredible collection of records which cover most topics in the history of England. Beginning with the Domesday Book and running to the present day, it also includes a useful library and facilities for taking copies of the records.
