Background: Maybird is a Fred Shepherd designed gaff rigged, canoe stern ketch. She was built at Tyrrells yard in Arklow in 1937 and her length overall is 43 feet. She was also known as Maya and has been owned by the following people: 1937-1942 Lt. Col.
